Thursday

Jessie Mine: We are now located at a village called Ringelheim – about 18 miles south-east of Hildersheim… and unfortunately, I have been damnably busy since we arrived. This may surprise you dear, but it is true. We appear to be scheduled for a fair amount of work here… mainly preventing crime in a fairly large area and involving day and night patrols and much routine work for the squadron. We officially commence this new job on Monday next, but there is much preparatory work to be done, and this is the cause of my ‘work’ since we arrived yesterday afternoon.

I intend to give you all the ‘dope’ about our new role etc, but cannot do so tonight – it is too late for one thing, and I feel damnably tired. I will try and do better tomorrow evening.

Meanwhile, I want to thank you for two letters received today – one of them a very long one, about your visit to Mills’s. I will deal with these letters later: would like to say more tonight – but am so sleepy – must go to bed.

Please forgive this lousy note.

Always
I love you
Trevy.
