Jess dear, I received a long and interesting letter from you today… and I want to thank you for it. I marvel that you were able to devote so much time for writing under present circumstances. I only hope you are not ‘burning the candle at both ends’ too frequently.<\/p>\n

I was particularly pleased to read the criticisms apropos the interior of our house. I too would like to add a word of praise. It must be some compensation for your labours to know that your efforts do not pass unobserved… particularly by people like Ethel and Hilda who have so much experience. Your cogitations about the future… with its possibilities!… seem to exclude the very obvious? fact that husbands have<\/strong> been known to prove useful. I realise that there can be no guarantee in this direction, but the gamble would be worth while, don’t you think? Anyhow, we can discuss that at greater length after we have consigned Hitler to hell.<\/p>\n

I was interested to read of the comparison between B. and Jean:- but there is little I can say under present circumstances, except that it is good news. And I don’t think you need worry, my dear. Just carry on as you are: Perhaps he will be playing the Emperor concerto at five! Thanks for your description of the little scene in the porch. I loved it.<\/p>\n
