Jess dear,<\/p>\n

At the moment I am doing very little and am afraid I have nothing to tell you. I have managed to write a short note for Johnny and am enclosing it with this. (…)<\/p>\n

Today we have had a bread issue: the second since we landed. I think the allocation was one loaf between six men:… not a lot, but a welcome respite from biscuits. Today also there was an issue of beer… the first since we landed. Each man received one pint… at a price of 15fr. (1\/6d). We have also had a few bottles of whisky in the squadron. I don’t think it will last very long!<\/p>\n

Today has been fine amd warm but rather cloudy. We have not had much rain for the last few days, and conditions have now become very dusty: at the moment, we are living close to a ‘road’ and the traffic provides us with a fine dust cloud more or less all day… But dust is only a minor discomfort… and quite harmless.<\/p>\n
