Jessie Mine: We have been fairly busy today preparing for tomorrow’s move. It was not until 3.0pm that we received final instructions… and so I have been doing a bit of evening work. We are sending twelve men and NCOs to B squadron, twenty three to A squadron… and the rest to H.Q. – pro. tem: I am going to H.Q.<\/p>\n

I have been packing my kit – and generally clearing out some of my junk… and now it is late and I feel damned tired… But I don’t want you to think that I am tired because of the work I have done: I haven’t worked hard enough for that… I am just sleepy, darling – and I think I had better go to bed.<\/p>\n

Please forgive this wretched little letter… I would have liked to send you a better one, as it will be my last from Ringelheim… but it’s no use trying to write if your mind is asleep.<\/p>\n

I will be writing from H.Q. tomorrow evening – Meanwhile…<\/p>\n
