Wednesday a.m.<\/p>\n

Jess dear, Your letters have been rather scarce lately, but I received three last evening… including your record breaker. I had a very interesting half hour reading them, as you can imagine. At the moment I am not in a position to reply in detail to one or two of your queries, but hope to do so later. I am glad you imposed upon yourself the task of beating my long letter, because I can now look forward to another long one from you… longer still, I hope!<\/p>\n

The weather has been very fine for the last few days… too hot if anything during the afternoons. At the moment, I am sitting beneath an apple tree… in the shade. It is very peaceful, and the war might be miles away judging by the absence of noise. Unfortunately, such conditions are deceptive… we never seem to get really far from the enemy.<\/p>\n

We have been subject to a new form of ‘attack’ lately… this time from mosquitoes. For two nights, most of us have had little enough sleep through the darned things. But last night we slept in a different locality and had a little more peace.<\/p>\n

Must leave you now dear… Hope you are both well.<\/p>\n
