Tues. evening

Jess dear, I fear you will find little of interest in my recent letters. My activities have been very stereotyped during the last two weeks and I seem to have little to write about. The weather has been very variable just lately… mostly wet and misty, but there have been a few fine intervals. Fortunately, we are now housed beneath substantial roofs… so the rain does not really cause us much discomfort.

We held a dance in the sergeant’s mess on Saturday evening… but I will tell you more about it later. Last night there was a squadron concert given by our own ‘artists’. There were a few turns by members of the ‘other ranks’… And the officers gave a sketch. It was a good effort on the whole, and we all had some good laughs. A few French civilians were invited to the show:- fortunately they couldn’t understand English – the language was rather colourful on occasions-!

On Sunday last, I received two letters from you, one of them dated the previous Thursday. It is a long time since I had such speedy mail… But I knew there was a snag somewhere… I haven’t had a letter since! I suppose there will be two or three for me tomorrow, or Thursday. (…)

Wed. morning

Nothing to add… In haste for post.

Love.

Trevy.
