Jessie Mine: This will not be much of a letter… but I want you to know that I am O.K… altho’ just a bit off colour…

Fortunately, I am billeted with a very kind Dutch family… my crew are here with me… and am being well looked after. The M.O. has ordered me to bed. I spent a couple of hours there this afternoon… but there is a comfortable sitting room here… and a warm fire… and that is where I prefer to be.

You must not worry about me, dear Jess. There is not much wrong with me… just a cold… And as I am confined to ‘bed’ it means that I am not outside working in this wretched wet weather. And for that I am jolly thankful.

I received two letters from you yesterday, but just now I cannot reply to them… There are about ten people in this room, and I can hardly hear myself think!

Tomorrow I will be indoors all day… (the M.O. will visit me for a change)… so I hope to be able to write you a decent letter. Meanwhile, darling, please forgive this wretched little scrawl…

I love you, Jess

Always and forever

Your Trevy.
