Sunday evening

Jess dear,

Once again I have little news for you… principally because nothing has happened to me for the last few days. At the moment we are resting… and our location would be reasonably pleasant but for the dust. We are close to a dirt roadway and the wind has recently shifted, blowing a perpetual dust cloud upon us. It is rather unpleasant… especially at meal times, when all food becomes gritty. But this is only a minor irritant, when all is said and done. We could be damned right worse off.

Have you noticed my new address? From now onwards you must address letters “B.L.A.” instead of B.W.E.F. The new initials stand for “British Liberating Army”. I cannot offer any official reason for this change.

I hope you are well, dear… and not worrying unnecessarily about me. I am in good health, and making the most of what comfort we can get out of this life. Our food too is still quite good… probably because we are doing our own catering from the “Compo Packs” you may have heard about.

Will write again tomorrow, if possible.

Yours always –

Trevy.
