Wed. evening,
Jess Dear,
Your letters now seem to be arriving regularly within about three days. Today, I have received yours of the 23rd… in which you recount the mysterious disappearance of your meat ration. I am not sure whether you are in need of my sympathy in this connection… but I find it hard to be genuinely sympathetic in such cases. I think it is your fault really… because you have a way of saying things which appeals to my sense of humour… and the present case is no exception.
I am not sure that my sympathies are not with the thieving cat. He (She?) appears to be destined for a hell of a rough time in future… but I have a suspicion that he won’t get any more meat from our house!! (…)
I have nothing to report about myself. Am still OK… Still living a comparatively peaceful existence…
Hope to write more fully tomorrow.
Love – Yours – Trevy.
